Cleanup Success
The report from the clean up crews is impressive. Several pickup loads of flotsam was collected by three teams of volunteers each working a stretch of the river:
- From the bridge at Route 116 in the center of town to the north end of the town corn field
- From the meander at the end of the cornfield to the Upper Reeds Bridge
- From there to the ford across the river near the bottom of Emerson Hollow Rd.
Our greatest accomplishment was the huge pile of the plastic strips pulled off the river banks from the geo-cell wall that washed out in last September’s hurricane. Many of the strips were tangled in tree debris and half buried in sand.
Thanks to the dozen volunteers, both residents of Conway and several Trout Unlimited members from out of town. And special thanks to Bob Anderson for organizing the morning.
